This is an installation in a commercial business. The substructure is made of two layers of plywood built to the finished size (11 feet in diameter). The electricians then drilled holes and placed cans for the lighting fixtures. We then installed 4 foot square, ¼" mdf panels with cherry veneer. The panels were held up with glue and brads. We routed the holes for the fixtures after the panels were installed by drilling holes in the proper location and using a straight cut router with an end bearing. The sides were finished with 3/8" by 2 inch solid cherry dry bent, glued and secured with brads. We used 3-way clamps and go-bars to hold the pieces until the glue dried. The cherry was pre-finished with a coat of satin lacquer, but the color was not dark enough, so we placed them in direct sunlight to darken the cherry.
